Based on the format of the popular Verb and Noun Sort, this sort teaches the difference between Simple Present Tense and Present Continuous Tense verbs. The sort is on an editable slide that could be used as an interactive teacher-guided lesson, or could be used by students on a smartboard. It could also be printed and made into a paper sort.
Here's how it works: decide whether the verb is simple present tense or present continuous tense, then move it into the correct category.
A second slide shows a completed sort to check answers, and a third slide of reflection questions will encourage students to identify and discover the patterns and rules of these tenses on their own-- no lecture needed!
Great introduction or practice of present and present continuous tense verbs. Simple vocabulary makes this suitable for 2nd grade through 8th grade, or for older language learners.
