Product Description
Reading about the differences in usage of the present perfect progressive vs the present perfect is all some ESL students need to understand it, but many other ESL students need a technique other than rote memorization. Allowing students to discover grammar rules by working together in cooperative learning groups both decreases teacher talk and instills deductive reasoning skills into students. When they can articulate rules into their own words, they own them and will be more like to both remember them and use them correctly.

In this 6-page linguistic investigation resource, students will work together to discover ways time can be expressed in the present perfect progressive vs. the present perfect. A practice page is included for students to articulate their understanding in written form with an answer key to make checking faster. (Please see the preview)

INCLUDED: duplicate pages using the term "continuous" instead of "progressive". (Please see the preview)

This activity was designed for intermediate-level adult ESL students.
