Students analyze authentic comics and internet memes containing the present progressive tense. They have to find the form of estar in the comic/meme as well as identify the subject, and infinitive form of the gerund. Students also practice guessing in context and interpreting the comics and why they're funny. For some of the comics, I include follow-up questions to help generate classroom conversation and participation. This is a great attention, co-construction, and extension activity to use when teaching the present progressive tense or “el presente progresivo” !
