Creating a limited scope for a short story can be difficult. For classes who have investigated The Hero's Journey as a way to think about storytelling, this presentation/activity helps narrow down and focus story ideas.
By looking at the Hero's Journey Step by step, students are asked to take their story ideas and imagine what one part of it would look like as a self contained story.
This is a powerpoint presentation, but can be used as an entire lesson to engage students in brainstorming ideas. This lesson can be a follow up to another lesson presented here
, which introduces students to the Hero's Journey through film.
