Finding your subject helps students identify the key elements of writing, which are your subject, your purpose, your audience, the sources of information available to you, and any constraints. In this presentation, topics that are explored are; how to move freely with your subjects. What interests you? Are there any questions you’d like to explore? Tell us why your subject is worth writing about. How might readers benefit from reading about it? Are you writing to inform readers? Or to persuade them? Is this a call to action? Or possibly a form of entertainment? Who are your readers? Are they well informed about your subject? What do you want them to learn? Will they be interested or attentive? Will they resist any of your ideas? What is your relationship to the reader? And much more for your senior in high school or college freshman level writer!
