“President Cleveland, Where Are You?”, by Robert Cormier, is the focus of this highly detailed lesson. Students use literature links to create a hands on connection to the story and its themes.
This file contains a variety of activities to keep your students interacting with the text to answer the essential question: How do you uncover clues to a story’s theme? Graphic organizers, sparking questions, questions requiring higher-order thinking skills, and a rubric/checklist grading sheet are all a part of this file.
This unit contains very clear lessons to follow. I made this for 6th graders, but this story can work with high level 5th through 8th grade.
