This multi-day lesson is designed as a primary/secondary source research and analysis activity that allows the students to look at many of the documents in question regarding the possible impeachment of President Trump and form their own opinion as to whether or not the investigation is proper, justified, and necessary.
Students in the activity will do 2 tasks.
The first is that students will analyze documents (most of which are primary) related to the impeachment investigation. These documents include the whistle blower complaint, the phone call memorandum with President Zelensky of Ukraine, and Nancy Pelosi's investigation announcement - plus MANY MORE. There are 10 documents in total and 5 links to videos as well. The documents are collected from what was available as of 11/7/2019. There are more documents than I require students to analyze, requiring the students to make choices in what they look at. Included is a document analysis sheet to keep their notes organized.
The second task is that students will write a 250-500 op-ed piece arguing their opinion. A Word template for this is included, along with expectations/requirements.
