This bundle is packed with activities and literacy connections for teaching Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day etc.

Activity 1: Patriotic ABC Order- Students put words in ABC order and write a story using the words

Activity 2: Red, White and Blue Making Words- Students use the letters in the word United States to make new words.

Activity 3: Presidential Pronouns- Students read sentences and replace underlined words with pronouns.

Activity 4: Stars and Stripes Syllable Sort- Students organize words based on how many syllables are in each word.

Activity 5: Eagle Eye Sentence Editing: Students read sentences, find all the spelling and punctuation mistakes and correctly write the sentences on their recording sheet

Activity 6: President Lincoln- Craftivity and Writing- After reading the book, Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers by Karen Winnick students make President Lincoln and then write a story persuading President Lincoln to grow a beard or not during his presidency. Alternate writing prompts included as well. (writing paper included)

Activity 7: President Washington Craftivity and Writing- Students will make President Washington and write a persuasive story about if they were president. (writing paper included)

Activity 8: Presidential Graphic Organizers- 3 variations of the following: bubble maps, tree maps and KWL charts plus a Venn Diagram to compare Washington and Lincoln

Activity 9: Presidential Vocabulary Cards- Use these to post in your room while studying about presidents and United States history.

Activity 10: Lincoln Non-ficition text-Use this resource to expose students to non-ficition text about Abe Lincoln. Follow up with one or both of the included comprehension sheets. It can be used in small groups, centers or even for whole group instruction.

Activity 11: Washington Non-ficition text- Use this resource to expose your students to non-ficition text about George Washington. Follow up with the included comprehension sheets. This activity can be used for small groups, centers or whole group instruction.
