Every February our country celebrates President’s Day. Presidents are an important part of American History. After reading a story about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, or Barack Obama discuss with the students the job of a President. In addition you can discuss achievements of specific Presidents. These stories introduce the children to 9 USA Presidents and the number rank of each President. For the teacher this resource includes each President’s number rank and year of birth/death. After you have shared the information with the students, there is a comprehension worksheet. Each person is introduced with a short story. To build comprehension the students have to fill in the blanks using the short story.
This resource also includes a USA President’s book. It will reinforce the background knowledge learned from the comprehension sheets. You will find the sentence pattern I am, on all of the pages of the book ending with the name of a President. In addition there is a picture of the President for the children to color that matches the sentence.
These are great & simple resources to introduce and review with children the concept of being a president. It will also increase a child’s knowledge of Presidents.
