Using a teddy bear theme is a perfect way to introduce your Kindergarten and First Grade students to Presidents Washington and Lincoln. This download includes 145 pages of detailed lesson plans as well as templates for every activity, morning messages, parent notes, center themes, possible book choices, art projects, parade paraphernalia, snacks and much more!
Students and their furry friends will learn "fun facts " about George Washington and Abe Lincoln.
Your students will bring their favorite teddy from home to be their learning companion for this fun and informative thematic unit. The unit will culminate with your students choosing a president from the book "What Presidents are Made Of" by Hanoch Piven, to develop several fun facts to share with the class. They will also be encouraged to dress their teddy bear as that president would have dressed. Your class will parade with their bears and share a "beary" special snack.
Students are encouraged to use text for self connections as they listen to stories about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington (a list of great books is included). These literacy connections will highlight the positive character traits of "Honesty" and "Telling the Truth".
Writing pages are provided with "beary" special borders. Several options are included for emerging writers to independent writers.
