Presidents' Day Fun for Middle Schoolers! This would also work well with the presidential inauguration that was on January 20.
This packet of five activities includes three logic puzzles, one cryptogram, and one grid drawing sheet. The puzzles are based on factual information about many different presidents. The puzzles vary in difficulty and are ready to print, copy, and use- no other prep necessary! An answer key and a few tips are included.
These puzzles are great to use as a filler activity, with a substitute, or after a test is given, and yet they will still challenge your students’ minds. I hope you enjoy these activities!
Puzzle 1: Presidential Ages- Find 5 president’s ages and home states.
Puzzle 2: Other Presidents…- Find the first year in office, political party, and major achievement of four presidents not commonly known by middle school kids.
Puzzle 3: Show Me the Presidents!- Find the denominations of the bills that each president is on.
Puzzle 4: Cryptogram- Find 11 words related to the president or U.S. government and a quote from a president.
Puzzle 5- Grid drawing
BONUS: What’s a President Do? Use the descriptions of the 6 roles of the president to fill in a chart with 12 jobs performed under each role.
