Part One: Students need to research using the internet of books to complete questions about Washington and Lincoln.
Part Two: Students then need to take the information they found about both presidents and compare them in a Venn Diagram.
Part Three: Creative Writing Prompts. With the knowledge they have about Washington and Lincoln students must create a dialogue between the two men. What would they ask each other? How would they respond? The second creative writing prompt begins with “If I were president…” and students must finish the idea.
Part Four: Students are given a excerpt from Hamilton’s “One Last Time” which features parts of George Washington’s Farewell Speech. They are also given Abraham Lincolns Gettysburg Address. From those documents, students must answer a question pertaining to any similarities they might have (tone, theme etc) and answer why those speeches might be considered some of the best in American history.
