Looking for a fun way to celebrate President's Day? Here is what my class and I do!
I put my students into groups and give them each one of the Presidential Fun Facts pages! Each group gets a different president to research (there are 12 total in this file). After we spend some time finding fun and interesting facts we organize them into paragraphs and write the paragraphs on the Presidential Fun Fact page.
Now, each group has a job to do. They need to present these fun facts to their classmates. As they present, students are writing down one or two fun facts in their "Let's Learn About the President's" booklets (also in this file).
The booklet also has a place for students to write about what they would do/change "If I were President..." and a place to draw a picture of their future self as President.
I hope you enjoy this Research Project/Writing Assignment/Crafty Drawing as much as we do!!!
You might notice the booklet pages are numbered. The booklet was created so you could run it through your copier 1 to 2 sided and save paper!!! If you do this, the presidents will be in the booklet in order from Washington to Obama!
We decided to take this assignment one step more and do an Expository writing assignment on the life of our assigned President. You can find the file I used for that here...
Thanks for looking!!!
