Your students will celebrate President’s Day by learning interesting presidential facts while reinforcing the common core standard of text structure! Students will work cooperatively to “scoot” to information cards and identify signal words. As a group, they will determine if the featured president’s story (Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Clinton, Obama) on each card was structured by the author in a compare/contrast, description, sequence, cause & effect, or problem/solution format. Directly aligned to common core standard RI.4.5, this engaging activity combines social studies, a special holiday, and a key language arts standard in one single session! Perfect for 3-5th grades! (I used this activity with my 4th graders for part of my teacher evaluation and passed with flying colors...my principal loved it!)
*5 color stations story cards
