What educators are saying

This was a great visual resource to help guide my first graders in their researching and writing about the presidents.

Description

Engage students in writing about ANY president on inauguration day or President's Day with this informative writing craft and research project. Students will spend time researching a president, then will take notes on a graphic organizer and turn them into a published writing piece.

This lesson can be taught in one day or stretched out throughout five days. Students generate ideas for their writing, then will turn those ideas into a full writing project. This project can be taught throughout a week, or squeezed into one morning.

There are two versions of this craft:

  • Primary Lined (with a sentence stem "The president...")
  • Intermediate Version (with planning, drafting, editing and publishing pages)

What's Included in the Resource:

  • Teaching Guide
  • Photo Examples
  • 2 Brainstorming/Planning Pages
  • 3 Different Versions of Drafts (differentiated)
  • Editing Checklist
  • Craft Pages
  • 2 Rubrics
