Presidents of the United States Bundle will give your students a chance to be actively engaged in their learning about 44 individuals who've had the opportunity to be Commander in Chief.
How I use these two products together is by giving students one class period to look through "The EYES Have It!" just so they get to see who the past presidents were in a fun way. The next day we begin researching the presidents. I usually assign students to two presidents and then let them pick two others they'd like to do. Seeing the presidents with the "EYES" activity helped them broaden their choices. Once I heard a student say, "I'm going to research Martin van Buren and John Quincy Adams...because they've got AWESOME sideburns!"
INCLUDED IN THIS BUNDLE ARE THE FOLLOWING:
Presidents of the United States - The "EYES" Have It! - Fun Partner Activity!
Want to have some fun teaching about the Presidents of the United States? Looking for something fun to do with your students for Presidents' Day? This activity is going to keep your students actively engaged, they'll see who all of the United States presidents have been, and all along they will be having fun while learning.
Students are given a packet that only has the eyes portion of each president's official presidential portrait and have to identify which number set of eyes belongs to which president. I have students use the internet to research Presidential Portraits to see if they can find the painting that matches the eyes.
THE FOLLOWING SITE IS GREAT FOR PRESIDENTIAL PORTRAITS:
-I've also had students simply Google [President's Name]+presidential portrait if they like that better.
The next day, or at the end of the class period, or whenever you choose, you can then click through the PowerPoint (or load it in a location that students can access once they're done) that has the eyes in the order of the packet. Each click reveals the number from the packet, then the eyes, then the whole face, and then the name of the "Mystery President."
I also have included a PowerPoint of the presidents with mystery eyes in chronological order for you to use with your students in any way you see fit.
YOU WILL NEED ACCESS TO THE INTERNET FOR THIS ACTIVITY
Table of Contents:
- Packet of Presidential Eyes [out of chronological order] (5 Pages)
- PowerPoint Showing Eyes/Faces/Names (45 pages) [See Preview]
- PowerPoint of Presidents' Eyes/Face/Names in Chronological Order (45 pages)
Presidents of the United States - 45 Trading Cards to Be Made
Looking for a way for your students to discover facts about the Presidents of the United States? Here is a way your students can discover these leaders of the United States that allows them to find out some basic facts, but also allows them to identify what they think is important about each person. Each trading card has the same format and allows students to gather a very brief snapshot of who these people were and what they achieved that had an impact on America's history during the time they were Commander in Chief.
