Want to have some fun teaching about the Presidents of the United States? Looking for something fun to do with your students for Presidents' Day? This activity is going to keep your students actively engaged, they'll see who all of the United States presidents have been, and all along they will be having fun while learning.
Students are given a packet that only has the eyes portion of each president's official presidential portrait and have to identify which number set of eyes belongs to which president. I have students use the internet to research Presidential Portraits to see if they can find the painting that matches the eyes.
THE FOLLOWING SITE IS GREAT FOR PRESIDENTIAL PORTRAITS:
-I've also had students simply Google [President's Name]+presidential portrait
The next day, or at the end of the class period, or whenever you choose, you can then click through the PowerPoint that has the eyes in the order of the packet. Each click reveals the number, then the eyes, then the whole face, and then the name of the "Mystery President."
I also have include a PowerPoint of the presidents with mystery eyes in chronological order for you to use with your students in any way you see fit.
YOU WILL NEED ACCESS TO THE INTERNET FOR THIS ACTIVITY
Table of Contents:
- Packet of Presidential Eyes [out of chronological order] (5 Pages)
- PowerPoint Showing Eyes/Faces/Names (44 pages) [See Preview]
- PowerPoint of Presidents' Eyes/Face/Names in Chronological Order (44 pages)
