Students analyze authentic comics and internet memes containing the preterit verb forms. They have to find the verb forms in the comic/meme and figure out who is doing the action. Students also practice guessing in context and interpreting the comics and why they're funny. I include follow-up questions that relate to the meme/comic to help generate classroom conversation and participation. This is a great attention, co-construction, or extension activity to use when teaching the preterit tense!
