Students write, illustrate, and publish five vignettes of their lives, using the preterite and the imperfect. They will create a product that they will be proud to share, and that their parents will love!
Written for Spanish, but appropriate for any language with a preterite/imperfect distinction in the past tense.
2-sided preterite brainstorming sheet
2-sided imperfect brainstorming sheet
Self or peer-editing checklist
Students brainstorm about many experiences that they might write about and then select 5 to focus on. Then they brainstorm all of the background details of the experience, and choose those that will most effectively enhance their vignettes.
Final product includes the 5 vignettes with illustrations.
