Preterite of Regular Verbs
Time to move from the present to the past! Help students begin to talk about what happened in the past using the Spanish preterite. As has been my goal, the text in this PowerPoint is editable. Given the variation in curriculum, regional usage, and vocabulary, I felt it would be more useful to teachers if you were able to modify the text to best meet the needs of your students as well as local, state, and national standards. However, please be careful when making changes to the text to avoid altering or removing the animation. I use animation and triggers to present the material in steps or small chunk as well as present self-checking practice. This PowerPoint also comes with editable guided note pages.
This 51-slide animated PowerPoint Lesson on Preterite steps through the grammatical structure necessary to use the preterite to refer to the past when speaking or writing in Spanish. Since there are two past tenses in Spanish, it is important that students also know when to use the preterite. There is opportunity for students to discuss option, compare and contrast, and practice using the preterite. The PowerPoint includes many examples as well as practice that can be done individually, in groups or as a class. Use it along with the guided notes to give your students a great foundation for using the preterite to express themselves easily and effortlessly in the past.
Since teacher prep time can be so time consuming among the many other tasks they must complete, my goal in all my products is to provide high quality products at a reasonable price to help ease the time, stress, and pressure involved in lesson preparation.
