Are your students struggling with preterite vs. imperfect? Do their eyes gloss over when you go over the rules? Well, what kid doesn't like a scary story? Use this exercise to go over the difference between the use of preterite vs. imperfect with a creepy story entitled, "¡No Creo en Fantasmas!"
There are three worksheets.
1. The first page is simply the story highlighting the different uses of the verbs to help illustrate which is being used under which circumstances.
2. The next worksheet takes the same story but students will need to conjugate the verbs in either the preterite or the imperfect, but with help in the form of color-coded hints.
3. The last worksheet is the story again but with no hints. Students must decide which verb form should be used and write it above the infinitive in the story.
This takes a relatively dry subject and adds some simple intrigue! BOO!
