What do you get when you combine role playing, art making, imagination, team collaboration, and conversations about bullying prevention, empathy, assertiveness skills, and self-esteem? A Quiz Show...about Standing Up to Bullying!

This FuN!, LOW-PREP, EDITABLE, interactive lesson & game can be used as a stand-alone classroom lesson about Bullying, as a bullying prevention introduction, or as a review and/or supplement to your empathy and how to deal with bullying social skills lessons.

Bullying Prevention Topics Covered Include:
*How to identify bullying
*Skills and assets that build resiliency, self-esteem, and assertiveness
*Tips on ways to stand up to bullying if you are a target
*Tips on ways to stand up to bullying if you are a bystander

Hands-On and Experiential Lesson
This classroom game encourages reflective thinking, and is designed for students to show off and build on their smarts in different ways. Plus, the questions and challenges are 100% customizable so if you like, you can edit them to better fit your specific needs.

For a bullying classroom lesson, it is best used with a Promethean White Board or projector that that can be hooked up to your computer. You can use it with small groups too (and a white board is not necessary!) Formatted as a power point presentation, this bullying prevention lesson will not only engage your students, but will also make it easier on you because it is: LOW-PREP for all you busy teachers and school counselors!

TIPS ON HOW TO STAND UP TO BULLYING
TIPS on how to Stand Up to Bullying for those being targeted and for bystanders / upstanders handouts and Lesson Plan are also included!

Now with BONUS TASK CARDS & WORKSHEETS to provide you with flexibility!!!!! Given that the GAME SHOW takes 40-60 minutes to play, and sometimes we just don't have that much time....or that the GAME SHOW works best projected on a large screen, and sometimes the technology breaks down....or that there are days when we walk into the classroom and just know that a whole classroom game is not going to fly that day....and sometimes students need more quiet, reflective activities......I have included more than 6 additional formats to teach about Standing Up to Bullying. (Note: the additional activities do involve some printing prep-work.)

HOW I USE THIS LESSON:
I love Fred Rogers’ quote that, "for children, play is serious learning." As the research says, creative play really is the language of childhood. No matter the topic covered, I have found that as long as the lesson involves a bit of art, role-playing, games, and some freedom of movement, students are engaged. In this lesson, students get to act/ role play, draw, imagine, take risks, and problem solve as a team.

I hope that your students enjoy this bullying prevention, empathy building activity, having serious fun learning how to stand in your power!

ASCA MINDSETS & BEHAVIORS covered:
