These guides are great for the development of visual acuity, tracking, top to bottom- left to right progression, beginning handwriting strokes, and fine motor coordination. They progress in difficulty from simple horizontal or vertical lines to complex picture grids and finally copying words. The 52 guides in this book were originally drawn with crayon and reproduced in black and white.
We use them in the writing center. Teachers must transfer them to 8x12 pieces of paper with crayon to make their own set of master "guides." Students then copy the posted guide EXACTLY as it appears (color, number of lines, paper orientation, size of shapes, etc.) on their own sheets of 8x12 paper.
