Prezi presentations are a fantastic replacement for or addition to Powerpoints and other more standard presentation material in the classroom. The fluidity or "zooming" nature of these presentations appeal to students' senses of novelty, and I have often had literal "oo"s and "ahh"s coming from my students over topics as dull as grammar, rhetoric, and mechanics. This is no small task.
This prezi presentation is a fun and lightly humorous way to cover 3 essential grammar and punctuation lessons required for writing clear and sophisticated sentences: phrases and clauses, comma usage, and sentence variety and complexity. The presentation is designed to allow you to either teach all 3 components at once, back to back, or divide it into smaller mini lessons or bell ringers. Each section has a small practice/assessment activity at the end to allow for the split up.
Although I use it with my SMARTBoard, the prezi only requires that you have a computer hooked up to some sort of projector for the students to see.
