In this activity, students watch a series of 4 video clips related to price controls. One video clip depicts a man who is arrested for price gouging when he brings in his generators for sale during a natural disaster. The other two video clips depict economist John Stossel's perspective on rent control and minimum wage. The last video clip is a news report on a man who is currently being scrutinized for price gouging the pharmaceutical drug Daraprim. With each video clip, there are corresponding questions that get the students thinking about the effect of price controls on people and the economy. My students find this to be an interesting activity, as it shows them how price controls effect their lives on a daily basis. All videos are included (hyperlinked) in the document.
