For some children, knowing what to take pride in is a skill that needs to be explicitly taught. The Pride Portfolio gives a child a place to showcase aspects of their life with which they take pride--from academic success to taking care of their family dog. Some might need further guidance and permission to take pride in their efforts and their movement toward a variety of goals.
Have students draw pictures of their points of pride or snap a picture to affix to one of their pride pages. Have the student write a note about the moment and/or allow them to have friends, teachers, or family members add their own comments.
The Pride Portfolio is a great tool to help build self confidence in addition to building a trusting connection between teacher and student.
Heading pages for academics, hobbies, friends, awards, and family are included in addition to a number of pride pages (print as many as the child is willing to complete).
