PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Social studies, science, reading and writing activities!

This is a cross-curricular unit on Antarctica to accompany the classic, "Mr. Popper's Penguins" by Richard and Florence Atwater. The story is one that I enjoyed in first grade, and now I read it aloud to my first graders!

In addition to activities that accompany the read-aloud, I've included some research activities your students can do on Antarctica and penguins. There is really a lot to learn about this fascinating continent! In my class, our research and reading of "Mr. Popper's Penguins" culminated into an Antarctic habitat in our classroom using artwork and decorations made by the students.

Included in the unit:

-Lesson plans
-Common core standards addressed
-Comprehension questions and activities for "Mr. Popper's Penguins"
-Trifold to accompany "Mr. Popper's Penguins"
-Vocabulary
-Research worksheets
-Different types of penguins worksheets
-Antarctic explorers worksheet
-Penguins coloring page
-Expedition journal entry pages
