This is the FULLS year's worth of spiraling L.A. conventions curriculum that covers errors such as:

1. Those predictably misspelled sight words. (whent, uv, ovre, wuz, I'am, bicks, etc. thay, vary, mothr)

2. All common punctuation errors.
a) A "automatic" period at the right of the line.
b) An apostrophe after EVERY word ending in S.
c) Random periods.

3. Common grammar errors (subject/verb agreement):
a) They is....
b) Substituting are (for our).
c) Choosing THERE v. THEIR.

Major items stressed:
a) Finding where one sentence ends and the second begins.
b) Using proper ending punctuation.
c) The friendly letter format.
d) Writing dialog properly with correct punctuation.
1) With the SAID word coming first, last, and in the middle.
2) With two people talking (practice starting a new paragraph)

None of this is too hard because you LEAD your students through it via your white board, transparency, or document camera projector. Students LOVE to come up to make corrections on the board or projector.

Students using this curriculum learn to master so much more language than they can with just a few lessons on each topic per year.


It also provides solid morning bell work for students. Students get right to work using this curriculum.

(The term EDITING is used because it is more self-explanatory than the term "D.O.L..")

It also doubles as handwriting practice with the two lines daily.

There is a 2nd set of sentences each day for "hotshots" who work fast and need the challenge while others simply do the first REQUIRED work.


INCLUDED:
1. Explanation of how to use curriculum and a classroom tested
method to motivate students.
2. 35 full weeks of student "problems" (2 a day after the 1st week)
which spirals through nearly all key English written conventions.
So your gifted students can have a daily challenge.
3. A complete ANSWER KEY including BIG IDEAS noted in the
key above each problem to give you suggestions on any "mini-
lesson(s)" for that day. (These become less frequent as the
program spirals and becomes mostly review and practice.)
4. A FULL YEAR (35) tests - one per week.
5. Keys for each test for your convenience.

The language skills covered consistently help rid students of bad spelling habits and allows them to master nearly ALL key writing conventions. While this is aimed at 2nd it is easily complex enough for 3rd or even 4th graders.
