This primary source activity is sure to engage all your students! They have to use clues to try and identify mysterious items you have obtained from different teachers around your school.
This activity will engage students in a hands-on, real life investigation into analyzing primary sources and the type of information they can give. This activity is ideally done right after you have explained the difference between a Primary source and a Secondary source, and you want students to familiarize themselves more with the type of information they could get from Primary sources.
You (the teacher) will first to prep for this activity by collecting random items from other teacher’s trash/ classrooms/ purses. These items will serve as the primary sources students will analyze, trying to identify which teacher it came from.
