Help your students to practice their primary source text analysis skills. My PSTA resources allow students to have short practices to keep their skills sharp. You’ll want them to practice analyzing primary source documents throughout the school year; this Westmoreland County Miners' Strike resource is a ready-to-go handout to launch a conversation about the tensions between labor and management, and industrial America. This was a famous strike, which involved Mother Jones and the wives of the strikers; when the women were jailed with their children, they sang until the judge released them.
You can also access this file digitally, via Google Drive, which will allow you to edit it for your classroom. Aligned standards can be found within the introduction letter within this document. Simply print the handout and share the link with students. It includes an answer key for reference.
