Analyze the Boston Massacre through a variety of images and primary source documents. Compare, contrast, and draw your own conclusions about who was in the right and who was in the wrong. Did the British commander order them to fire? Are the British really the heartless butchers they are made out to be? Were the colonists truly the hapless victims of English brutality and oppression? It is up to you to decide!
Packet includes directions for an essay and philosophical chairs. Suggestion: as an opener, project one or several of the images on the board and discuss them using a system like OPTIC or anything else you like, looking for bias and getting the kiddos in the right mindset for the rest of the project. Works great with partners!
