These primary sources graphic organizers are a great addition to your social studies lessons in third through fifth grade. These kid friendly graphic organizers are designed for your students to analyze written documents (such as letters, dairies, journals, maps), photographs, artifacts (arrowheads, clothes, older technology), and sound recordings. Each organizer has questions that lead students through the process of learning through the primary source. Reading skills of inferencing and drawing conclusions are incorporated into each organizer. There are many opportunities for students to use their higher level thinking skills through these organizers. These can be used in whole group, small group, with partners, individually, or in workstations. They are very versatile.
My state is incorporating more primary sources on the state test so I am incorporating them into each social studies unit. The questions on the organizers are based on their questions, but in kid friendly organization and terms.
This packet includes graphic organizers for the following:
* Written Document Analysis
* Sound Recording Analysis
* Artifact Analysis
By purchasing this product now, you will also have access to any future primary source graphic organizers created. Each organizer has a black and white version and a color coded sectional version for your classroom printing needs.
Please note that the photo analysis graphic organizier is the same one that is incorporated in my Primary Sources Introduction Powerpoint Lesson.
