This sight word packet was created with the intention of providing students with a way to independently practice the Dolch Primer sight words. I wanted students to practice reading, spelling, and writing with these words. I also wanted them to practice writing properly on the lines and to pay attention to the fact that some letters are tall, others are short, and some hang low.
Each page consists of one word for students to practice, with a total of 52 practice pages. All pages are formatted the same way. The first word printed boldly on the lines is for students to trace with their finger. The second word is for them to trace with a pencil or marker for proper handwriting practice. The third word is to trace for practicing proper height of the letters, and the fourth is for students to write on their own.
The sentence below each set of words was added for students to trace and read. The intention was to again model proper handwriting, as well proper sentence structure.
The boxes below the sentence were added to allow spelling practice in some tactile way. Students can use wiki sticks, letter tiles, magnet letters, playdough, etc. They can even write the word with a marker if they like.
These pages can be laminated or put in clear page protectors to be posted as a word work station in your class. They can be left out as an early finisher activity, or they can be printed on an as-needed basis for remediation purposes.
