This cute and fun game is a fabulous way to drill quarter notes, half notes, and whole notes. Your student will internalize how many beats each rhythm receives in a hands on way, perfect for all learning styles. This game corresponds with Faber and Faber's Primer Piano books, Unit 1 but works with a wide variety of method books.
Place the farm (page 3) in the center and give each student a mama animal board (pages 4-5). Place circle tokens on the farm (page 3). Shuffle the deck of cards and place them in a stack next to the farm. Each turn, someone will draw a card, identify the rhythm and place that amount of circle tokens on their board, ex. if you draw a half note, you pick up two circle tokens because a half note is worth two beats. The first one to fill their board wins the game.
