52 sight words are taught using 30 easy readers, writing activities, and flashcards. This program uses a sequential, multi-sensory approach.
Experts recommend a sequential, multi-sensory approach for children with dyslexia. This program is also great for older students with special needs. My teenage son who has Down Syndrome loves the readers in this series! He enjoys reading them in digital format. Once downloaded, he can easily skip through the activities to access the digital books. This series is also great for beginning readers, as it builds a solid foundation of skills and knowledge.
This collection of 30 easy readers includes all 52 words from the Primer list. These words are as follows:
all, am, are, at, ate, be, black, brown, but, came, did, do, eat, four, get, good, have, he, into, like, must, new, no, now, on, our, out, please, pretty, ran, ride, saw, say, she, so, soon, that, there, they, this, too, under, want, was, well, went, what, white, who, will, with, yes
This book also reviews many words from the Pre-Primer list, including the following: look, the, I, to, my, a, little, can, is, you, funny, big, not, we, for, play, go, red, jump, in, help, me, it, down, make.
A page of flashcards is located after each reader. These flashcards are of the new primer sight words and of select sentences from the reader. I recommend printing the flashcard page on card stock for durability.
Sentence Builder Books
Sentence Builder Books develop fine motor skills, along with reading, writing, and spelling. Each reader comes with pages to create a Sentence Builder Book. The first page may be used as the cover. It has the title and lines for the student’s name and date. The next page or two contain all the sentences from the reader. After the sentences, you will find all of the pictures from the reader.
Students cut out the words and pictures. Next, they paste the words onto paper to re-create the sentences. If your students use the included handwriting template, they may also copy the sentences. Students may paste the pictures and/or draw pictures to go with the sentences.
Once complete, students staple the pages together to create the Sentence Builder Book. This is a great project for children to take home and read to their families.
