Locate PWC on Map (North America, USA, Virginia (northern) and northern and western hemisphere)
Discuss physical characteristics of the county
- PWC has a wide variety of geographic features including rivers and streams, mountains, rolling hills, and coastal plain
Early settlements in PWC were located along rivers and streams which provided them with food and transportation
Coastal Plain (tidewater)
East of the Fall Line (Potomac River)
Piedmont (means foot of the mountain, rolling hills, west of the fall line (Bull Run Mountain)
Important Local River and Streams
Potomac River (eastern border)
Occoquan River - northern border
Bull Run - part of northern border
Chopawamsic Creek (southern border
