Princess and the Pea Themed Comprehension Strategy Sheets for First Grade Reading Literature Common Core State Standards
Do you ever feel that your District’s basal adoption doesn’t quite reach all of the Common Core State Standards? Are the reproducible book pages hardly worth copying off? Do your first graders find it difficult to write on tiny lines? This pack is for you!
This packet was written to work with all of the Common Core State Standards and then some! I created this pack to use with any version of the story—you can still teach the standards in your basal, but with the story of your choice! This product can be used with any reading series or teacher created reading workshop! This pack covers the Common Core State Standards for Reading Literature and will supplement every standard you teach! This pack of reading response sheets was made specifically for 1st grade, but high Kinders or struggling 2nd grade students can use these, as well. Corresponding standards in kid-friendly “I Can” style are listed in the upper left corner of each sheet so you can easily see which response sheet goes with each standard. Your administration can easily see this too, if they pop in to see what the students are working on.
The pages have plenty of room for students to write and/or draw their responses. You can even enlarge these to 11x17-sized on the copy machine for more space. To differentiate for all of your learners, most of the pages have options for picture response, written response, or both. This packet is perfect for use with whole group, reading groups, and/or with Daily 5 stations.
I’ve included 16 retelling tool pages with picture/word cards, large setting backgrounds, and stick puppet characters (in 2 skin tones and a black and white copy for students to color).
