This 75 minute lesson for junior high and high school allows students to explore the principles of design framed around logo design. In this lesson, students will define and demonstrate each of the five principles of design. They will examine multiple examples and create their own examples of each element. There are two mini assignments throughout the lesson allowing them to explore some principles more in depth. The package also includes a day after bell work quiz (or you could use this as an exit ticket) and a sponge activity focusing on logo identification.

This lesson is classroom tested and I have used it for years with high school design students at the start of the semester as a review of the principles of design. It would work in any type of design or art class.
Everything you need for this lesson is included here and ready to go… all you need to do is photocopy the materials and make sure students have access to some of the digital files.
Zipped file includes complete teacher's guide and lesson plan, instructor file (both Smart Notebook and PowerPoint), student notes and assignment booklet, digital student files (both Smart Notebook and PowerPoint), bell work review quiz, and a sponge activity (identifying logos).
*Please note: This zipped file contains both Smart Notebook files (made in Notebook 14) and PowerPoint files. The teacher file also contains links to youtube videos. If your school has blocked youtube, you will have to supplement those activities or embed the videos.
