Research shows that "chunking" a text can improve comprehension. Using stopping points, students can break up a text into manageable sections or "chunks" to organize and monitor their understanding of a text. This strategy can be used with fiction and nonfiction texts.
Use these post-it note reading stop signs to encourage students to chunk texts and create stopping points. This resource will help students to read, stop, and think in order to organize text information, check for understanding, and share their active reading comprehension.
★ This resource includes a post-it printing template and directions for how to print onto 3" x 3" post-it sticky notes. (Sticky notes not included!)
★ Stop signs are black and white, but there are two versions included (one for an ink saving option!).
