A fun activity for students to practice absolute value. Students use their critical thinking skills to analyze questions for accuracy and determine errors.
Students are given a mat and a set of cards. Students work out the problem on each card. They determine whether the card is a truth or a lie and place it on the appropriate side of the mat.
Each card has a letter on it for quick grading and an answer key is provided.
There are many possible options for this activity. You can use it as a class activity, a homework assignment, or even an assessment. Students can work individually, in pairs, or in small groups.
This activity requires little preparation. You simply need to make copies. You can cut out the cards or have the students cut them out since they are not in order. If you plan to use this activity again, you can laminate the mats and cards.
