As students read the account of navy fighter pilot John McCain, they take relevant notes and make annotations to understand the experiences of a POW. Once complete, students complete a primary source analysis of the Military Code of Conduct, then compare the experience of John McCain in Vietnam to the Code. Students complete a final writing prompt to answer, "What did POWs experience the Vietnam War?"
