Students examine and analyze an account from a POW (prisoner of war) during the Vietnam War. As students read the account of navy fighter pilot John McCain, they take relevant notes and make annotations to understand the experiences of a POW. Once complete, students complete a primary source analysis of the Military Code of Conduct, then compare the experience of John McCain in Vietnam to the Code. Students complete a final writing prompt to answer, "What did POWs experience the Vietnam War?"
Engaging and hands-on!
