This unit contains material for teaching two speech assignments. In one, students will give a speech about a prized possession - a beloved teddy bear, blanket, picture, etc. In the other, students will give a speech about their favorite person - someone who has impacted their lives.
This bundle provides materials for teaching two narrative speeches. Included:
☆ Student instructions for giving a prized possession speech, including possible topics.
☆ Student instructions for giving a favorite person speech, including possible people.
★ A brainstorming sheet to narrow down ideas about the favorite person.
☆ A sample outline of a prized possession speech and a sample outline of the favorite person speech.
☆ An outline rubric.
☆ A speech rubric.
The sample speeches have an attention gainer, introduction, thesis statement, at least two main points, and a conclusion. They are sentence outlines, not a topic outlines. They do not contain research.
I created the sample outlines so students could see the background information needed to complete a successful speech.
I have used the speech rubric for years, and have modified it to include the areas needed to fairly grade students.
I primarily teach this with freshman and sophomores, but the speech assignments in this product will work with grades close to that.
