This unit is designed to help students learn about probability using a number of engaging probability activities. It uses gumball machines to introduce this topic in a fun way.
UPDATED 2017 (New fonts and Canadian spelling of colour added to the file)
Included in this unit are the following:
-2 sets of different probability lines. (Impossible, possible, certain)
and (impossible, less likely, equally likely, more likely, certain)
-5 colourful posters explaining each word
-2 activities which could be used for a whole class lesson or a small group lesson or center. Activity 1 is a sort where students can match a gumball machine to the correct word. Activity 2 is a QR code self checking activity where students look at the gumball machine and indicate the chance of getting a certain colour gumball.
-Color the gumball machine sheet for assessment of learning
-Design a gumball machine activity. This would make a nice bulletin board or classroom display.
-Burst the Bubble game. This is a game to have students learn about experimental probability.
-Check it Out is an activity where students place pictures of two colour gumballs in a paper bag to see if the results they predicted are what actually happens. (You will need to supply the paper bags)

I have made all the student sheets printer friendly but you will need a colour printer for taking off the gumball machines and the posters.
