Probability Addition Rules Math Story Lib
For this math story lib activity, students travel around the room answering probability questions that have been posted on the walls. It’s a fun way of practicing how to find probabilities of events that use the key word “or.” The questions ask about overlapping and mutually exclusive events. They include questions involving cards, dice, spinners, drawing marbles from a bag, and several other scenarios.
At each station, students should spend about 4 minutes answering the probability question on their answer sheets. After 4 minutes, students should rotate to the next station. I enjoy doing this type of activity in the hallway, as long as the students can remain quiet enough. At the end of the activity, students fill in the blanks of to reveal a cute story about one of their teachers.
This product includes 10 multiple choice stations, an answer key, activity instructions, and a student answer sheet. I have provided black and white and color versions of each station.
I have also provided you with an editable PowerPoint file of the stations. In order to open this file, you must have PowerPoint installed on your computer. With this document, you can edit each of the story elements to personalize the story for your class. That means you can change the names of the teachers in the story to include teachers from your school.
