Description

This Probability: Likely or Unlikely Digital Mystery Picture uses Google Sheets™ and can be assigned to your students using Google Classroom™. It is a fun and engaging puzzle that can be used for review, extra practice, an assessment, or remediation. I have used these during distance learning with my own students and they are always asking me to do more of them.

Using their own paper and a calculator if allowed, students will find the probability of an event occurring as a percent, based on the situation given (different colored marbles in a bag). Then they will choose from a drop down menu whether the event is impossible, unlikely, equally likely, likely, or certain. When they enter the answer, if it is correct a piece of the picture will appear and the answer box will turn green. If the answer is incorrect nothing will appear on the picture and the answer box will turn red. In this way, the activity is entirely self-checking.

This activity is great for extra practice or remediation of this skill. Plus, your students will be engaged by the mystery picture aspect. There are 8 problems with two answers each. For example, the first answer might be 75% and the second answer likely.
