Description
Description: Have you ever thought "What are the chances of winning?" when playing rock/paper/scissors. Students will discover the theoretical and experimental probabilities of the timeless game.
Common Core Standard: 7.SP.8 (and more)
Materials: None
Student Learning Goals:
(1) Students will be able to make lists and diagrams to find all the possible outcomes of compound probability events.
(2) Students will be able to use the possible outcomes to create probability fractions for compound events.
(3) Students will be able to conduct an experiment to generate frequences for compound events and calculate the experimental probability.
(4) Students will be able to compare and explain the difference between theoretical and experimental probability.
PDF Download includes Lesson Plan, Student Guide, & Student Journal Page (see images).
