This hand's on activity is one I made for my 5th grade class to address the TEKS 5.12A and 5.12B. They spin the spinners and tally results as they go along. Once done spinning, they describe the results using fractions, and then they use the fractional probability to make predictions with different numbers of spins. This concept is tricky for my 5th graders, and this activity really drove home the concept of setting up equivalent fractions to make their predictions. There are six different spinners each with a different set of instructions for number of spins, so they get to practice using various denominators and multiplication facts.
