Students often struggle with mathematical concepts because terms, formulas, and functions can be overwhelming. Moreover, mathematical vocabulary confuses students because math terms are content specific. Defining what those terms mean and how they are used helps students master content.
The Probability & Statistics Vocabulary Survey can be used as a pre-assessment to evaluate students' prior knowledge. Data from this formative assessment will assist with grouping students and with planning instruction. Increase student achievement in math by focusing on the language of the curriculum.
The Probability & Statistics Exit Pass quickly assesses student mastery or understanding of a concept. Pose the question, which is pertinent to the lesson's objective, during the last five minutes of class. Instruct students to reflect on their learning by writing a response to the question. Students submit their Exit Pass before dismissal from class. Feedback from the Exit Pass is used to construct the warm-up for the following class period.
Both the Vocabulary Survey and the Exit Pass are editable documents.
