Product Description

This project asks students to place themselves in the role of a biologist who is "designing" animals that will be able to survive on planets in far-off star systems that are either very hot or very cold. Students are asked to research adaptations that animals on our home planet have first, finding both physical and behavioral adaptations that enable animals to survive extreme temperatures. I use this as a group project in a ninth-grade integrated science class because it enables them to apply both physical and life science concepts. A similar version of this project was greatly enjoyed by sixth-graders, back in the days when I taught middle school.
