These are key-shaped flash cards students can use to identify various problem solving strategies. The strategies listed are:
-Guess and check
-Make a list, chart, or table
-Draw a picture
-Look for a pattern
-Write an equation
-Make it simpler (example: change the numbers)
There is also a page of blank keys. This is great if you have different strategies or would like the students to write the strategies as you practice them.
I print theses on colored cardstock, have the students cut them out, and put on a ring to keep in their math folder. Then on any word problem they must identify the strategy they will use to solve the problem.
